VMware → VCF 9 readiness assessment — fixed fee, no time-and-materials meter.

Broadcom's subscription model changed the economics of every small VMware estate in Ontario — many SMBs are looking at renewal quotes several multiples of what they paid before. QuickPoint assesses your exposure and lays out the real options: VCF 9, another VMware path, or a Hyper-V exit. Delivered in 2–3 weeks for a fixed $3,500–$7,500.

Fee

Deliverable

Written findings + options with costs

Who this is for

The small manufacturer running three hosts, the professional office with a two-node cluster under its conference room, the distributor with an EMC-era SAN nobody wants to touch — businesses with a real VMware estate, a renewal coming, and no in-house virtualization engineer. If that's you, Broadcom has questions for you, and you deserve answers before the renewal date, not after.

What the assessment delivers

  • Licensing exposure, quantified. What your estate costs today, what your renewal path costs under the subscription model, and what changes if host counts or cores change first.
  • Estate inventory and health. Hosts, clusters, storage, versions, and end-of-support dates — a surprising number of SMBs discover unsupported ESXi builds here.
  • Three options, costed honestly: (a) Upgrade to VCF 9 — what it takes, what it costs, whether your hardware survives it; (b) Restructure within VMware — consolidation or edition changes that shrink the renewal; (c) Hyper-V exit path — what a migration to Windows Server Hyper-V (or Azure Local) really costs, in time and risk. We build and run Hyper-V too, so this option is advice, not a sales tactic.
  • A written report you can put in front of a board or owner Findings, options, costs, and a recommendation with reasoning.

Why a fixed fee, and why us

This assessment is normally sold time-and-materials, which perversely rewards slow work. Ours is fixed: scoped on host count, priced before we start. And unlike enterprise-focused virtualization consultancies, we work at SMB scale in Simcoe County and York Region — the same engineers who run managed plans and server migrations for professional offices. Zero Ontario SMB-focused VMware/VCF competitors surfaced when we surveyed this market; we intend to earn it one estate at a time.

One caution in our own interest: QuickPoint is not “a virtualization shop.” This is a specialty assessment within a full-stack practice — most assessment clients either exit with a plan to execute themselves, or convert to a fixed-fee project or managed plan. Existing managed clients get 10% off the project menu.
